Should vote counting be taken out of the hands of local councils

Percy
Lot of traffic on media asking about local councils and their counting of election votes many suspect a certain favouritism.

Council employees that man the polling stations are paid for the day as part of their salary. They are paid from 07:00am to 10:00pm (15hrs) on top of their salary and they also get a day off with pay in lieu of the day they have already been paid twice for.......

They should also stop disrupting schools by using them as polling stations that must have a cost.

Oh but its perfectly ok for la's to give kids a day off school when it suits but ask for a day off and get a 60 quid fine for disrupting kids education. Typical tory scumbag policy!

Why are they not paid just the standard overtime rate?
I'm sure after Blake-Herbert trying to slash their pay by 5% it would be a welcome bonus in their pay packets.

Why not get volunteers to do the job free or cheaper and use churches as polling stations.

From 2015 to 2017 Haverings school children will lose 18 days of their education (3 1/2 weeks) due to elections and INSET days.

Makes a mockery of fining a parent for taking their kids on a few days holiday!!

The "vote count" should be taken away from the native politico and placed firmly in the hands of free enterprise that way it would be a fair and lubbly way to distribute brown envelope money.

I would open a vote counting firm on the morrow .

Its not that easy the votes are overseen by the parties agents and other officials. The actual polling stations are overseen by police and council officials putting them in churches would leave the schools open.
